25Nov

Big week of purchases of household essentials that are not currently on the high seas. TV, F Freezer, Washing Machine, Microwave and Lounge furniture.

25th November. First day at the house. Heard from Flick and Rob who will be with us on Tuesday. Installed the phones but not working yet. My new bed arrives Tuesday so hopefully Rob can help us build it! Despite all other photos it really does rain in New Zealand. In fact it has rained all night and all day. Listening to TMS T20 World Cup Final. Poor performance in the final and Australia too good for us.

Started the move in experience with some hefty purchases! Began with K Mart and some cheap basics...... moved onto Harvey Norman for a combi microwave and grill in the Black Friday sale still on ...on Monday!!!!

Then into Furnish for a sofa and chaise to fill the lounge and so Jill can lie flat when she comes. The salesman said Feb delivery and we said no to that as we have visitors! He checked the stock.... one left ................delivery date....... this Wednesday. Sorry Jen but our luck continues.

Spent late am unpacking stuff and arranging homes for all. Nicer day today as you can see from our garden.

Just got to get a gardener now!!!!!

26th November. Very exciting day at new house. Bed arrived early and our first English visitors came at 10.30. Rob and Flick who are travelling NZ in a camper van.

They arrived with champagne and a rose bush for our garden. We sat in the garden and caught up with their mammoth trip and our move out here. John our landlord arrived to fix the cat flap and Rob and I put together the new bed.  Went for trip out....... called in at the Barnloft then out to the coast.

They loved it! Out to lunch at Nautilus for all you can eat buffet for Seniors $16.00 each.  https://www.nautilusrestaurant.co.nz/

Then back to Kereru and then they were gone. Great day! Ultra fibre man then called and we are up and running for the TV to come tomorrow.

27th OMG what a day! TV and a lesson on modern tech. PLEASE NOTE LANDLINE HAS CHANGED.  NUMBER IS +64 7 562 8775. Just as we were getting to grips with the new tech, the BBQ arrived. Then the sofa and chaise delivered by two of our neighbours, Dave and Lynn who work for Furnish. John the landlord came with a fixed cat flap and then finally the Ffreezer and the washing machine. All working great.  30th.... Sky installed....... Yeah Sky Sport back on the tele. Good news is we get Sky starter pack and Sky sports for $56.10 which is £28.05 English. We were paying £123.00 a month at Sackville! Spoke to Jen and Ben and heard much better news on their move so very happy for them.

1st December. Container due to arrive in Sydney today having been packed on the 1st October so not too bad. On the tracking number it says arriving in Tauranga December 7th so if that is the case we will be ecstatic! Having said that, the house is looking good with our new purchases.

Sofa and chaise........ bar stools and Combi microwave and f freezer in the background. Compare that picture to the one at the end of Blog 4 and you will see the difference.

Tomorrow Karin and Drew, our landlords at the Barn have invited us for drinks in the pm. Might have to be inside as it is persisting with rain. It is the aftermath of the Sydney deluge, which caused massive floods in the city.

The stay in the Barn has been excellent and has allowed us to get to know the city. If you are ever visiting this area we can thoroughly recommend it. Last two days.

Sunday 1st December...... great news...... container has arrived and has been put  on a ship sailing to Tauranga. Could be here by the end of this week. That would be such a relief to get organised before Jill arrives. Awesome! Oops. Just when you thought things were settled..... checked online with our container number and it has missed the boat!

Had drinks and nibbles with Karen and Drew which was great.  We have been so happy here and achieved a lot since we got here on October 23rd. Next step to move into rented with all our stuff from England.

December 5th. Found a gardener who has mowed and done a fantastic job. Moved in to 15 Kereru and have cooked proper meals in the combi microwave. Latest news on container is that it will leave Sydney on the 11th and arrive in Tauranga on the 16th. NZvanlines have assured us that it will be here before Christmas so we feel slightly relieved as this info has been given by three different sources. It will be on the MSC Carla 3 and i shall be tracking it on my new app...... Vessel finder!

New Mobile phones for our WhatsApp communications. Alison is +64 272554765 and Lynn is +64 272559688.

Christmas blog will feature our stuff arriving and is being prepared.

Bye for now.
